Gonna be a wee bit chilly, guys - dress warmly

I'm actually beginning to rethink things.....my back tends to be most painful with prolonged exposure to the cold. I'm worried that if the cold gets to it, I'm going to be down for the count for the rest of the weekend. I may still come, but I'll have to play it by ear.

Yep. No two ways about it. I'm fixin to be 60 years old on my next birthday. I used to like small, fast cars. Now I like big comfortable cars. I used to like to sleep on the ground. Now I like to sleep on my king sized Tempurpedic bed. Etc., etc. etc.

Besides, I've got conflicting needs this weekend. I have an M1A package deal that I'm trying to sell, and the gun show is this weekend. If I don't feel up to standing in the cold for several hours, I may just haul my considerable backside over to the gun show and try to sell that rifle.........so that I can buy another one. If I spend this afternoon shooting skeet, I won't have a chance to get to the gunshow until tomorrow afternoon, well after most show attendees will have spent their gun money.

We'll see....

Oh, and I love my TempurPedic bed too. With the heated mattress pad, the down comforter, and the weiner dog foot warmer.

Apparently, almost everyone wimped out. Puma guy was there, of course, and AndyC. I was there with my friend Jeff.

Masterofnone didn't shoot, but hung with us for the whole thing. He wound up keeping score, running the traps, and generally cheering and jeering us on.

We had a lot of fun, despite the cold and shot two rounds of skeet. Andy almost matched his all-time best score with a 21. It's really my fault he didn't make 22. I sort of jinxed him when I pointed out that all the rest of us had hit all 5 on station 7. No pressure there!

Apparently they ALL had guns to sell at the show today.
And for those who were wondering, Pawpaw's face does return to a normal state when he so chooses.

I got to meet some great fellows and shoot guns. What could be better than that? Andy was a great help assisting this old guy who hadn't shot skeet since the very early 80's (the old guy would be me) and had some great pointers. Thanks to PawPaw and his friend we had an awsome foursome and MasterofNone did a great job on the release and keeping score. It was nice putting faces on screen names. PawPaw's friend is gonna have to join the forum. I forgot to get my camera out of the car , duh! so no pix, but there's always a next time, hopfully sooner than later.

I had forgotten about the shotgun thing. Miroku also made my Browning Cynergy O/U, so 3 of the 4 shotguns we were using came from there.

I had a wiring problem at home that I had to take care of.

I froze my skinny little butt off and despites gloves could hardly feel my trigger-finger - at one point I considered using my elbow to pull the trigger but didn't want to be accused of showing off if I happened to hit something. It was great meeting puma guy - told me some stuff about my shotgun that I didn't know (we have the same "Charles Daly made by Miroku" O/U 'cept his is finer with those new-fangled ejectors and all) and he has one of the smoothest swings I've ever seen in my life; the man knows how to throw around a shotgun.

PawPaw took the first round and destroyed 3 station 8 clays (we ch(j)eered him on when he wanted a 3rd one just to see if he could do it) and his buddy Jeff battled with the occasional malfunction in his semi-auto 20 ga but acquitted himself wonderfully, hitting the last 10 birds in a row - including both on station 8 - so we told him he won't be welcome to the next shoot if he keeps shooting like that as he'll just show everybody up. Yeah, Pawpaw jinxed my station 7 shot, but the cold wind streaming in brought tears to my eyes on the first shot and I fluffed it (that's my excuse anyway!).

MasterofNone generously pulled for us and kept score while keeping us in stitches - very good company indeed - thank you!

Thanks for your kind words regarding my swing. Now ... if I could just consistenly hit something with it as I pull the trigger! I think it may be I'm just old and slow creating a illusion. If you learned something from me I am amazed, from your posts I regard you as a gunclopedia. BTW if you remember I mentioned the last time I did something gun related in DFW it snowed. Well we got some light flurries Sunday evening in Grand Prairie.

Hey, hey, hey! This was after I entered all the data and printed all the CHL-100 forms, and made the CHL-8, and fingerprinted a couple of people. I wasn't loafing the whole time...

There are only four shots on station 7 in regular skeet - two singles and your double what were ya'll playing (just curious)?

We were taking the 25th shot from station 7, since this was just a friendly outing.
