I remember nickel cherry/chocolate cokes at Piper's Drug Store. The druggist, Mr. Piper would make you a coke at the soda fountain. Piper's was in Detroit, 513.13 miles from Harrisburg, IL. It was owned by Mr. Piper.

That was before Walgreen's, CVS, and pharmacies at Walmart, Kroeger's and Randall's. Mr. Piper didn't have a jukebox, but I didn't have a nickel to put in it for a song. I listened to WXYZing radio for my music.

Did you perhaps have the chance to grab a grilled cheese at the counter in a Woolworths or a free slice of cake at Bill Knapps?

Not back then. I was in Mexico City a couple of years ago and had lunch at Woolworths!
