Post by tommyg »

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/02/21/ne ... r-burglar/

A man was arrested and charged with Felony for shooting a gun into the ground
to stop a burglar. He then held the burglar at gun point until police arrived.
Now both are in Jail

Please let me know what you think about this
I was a New Hampshire resident for 11 years

Saw this story earlier today. Simply pitiful.

A man can't defend himself or his property without facing criminal charges?

Simply pitiful......

I agree it's pitiful, but from what I could gather it apppears he's being charged for his warning shot.

I'm not a fan of warning shots at all.

From article:
Penny Dean, a spokeswoman for the Gun Owners of New Hampshire, said her organization is "absolutely outraged" by Fleming's arrest.

"This homeowner fired at the ground, from all accounts, in a safe direction and held a burglar for police and did things correctly," Dean told FoxNews.com. "The fact that this man would be charged is an outrage. Burglars in New Hampshire must know it's open season, since homeowners cannot defend themselves, as evidenced by this case. This is charging the victim."

Isn't the seizure of his 7 rifles and his handgun an unconstitutional seizure of property without due process? I mean, the rifles aren't even involved in the shooting? First, the burglar robs him, then his GOVERNMENT ROBS HIM? Ugh, I"m gonna have to turn off my computer before I type a curse word!
