:iagree:

Nothing he says is even the remotest bit funny, he just goes on pompous, arrogant, smug rants. Its funny like watching Judge Judy really set someone straight but only if you're on his side, which I am not. Judge Judy is not a comedian but sometimes (its on sometimes in the break room :leaving ...cut me some slack) its pretty amusing to watch her dress some idiot down. Its the same deal with Bill Maher except that, unlike Judge Judy, he's pretty wrong about a lot of things and I find his personality repugnent. Dennis Miller started down the same path and then disappeared. Some of George Carlins late in life material started to really go down this path as well.

For all of Jon Stewart's leftist leanings I do usually find him funny...even when some of my beliefs are the butt of the joke. Of course mature adults can handle a little criticism. I guess I'll find out when I become one.:

I watch them all to see what the other side is saying. Something I learned from my father who subscribed to newsletters, magazines and papers of ALL persuasions to keep abreast. Some of them caused some eyebrow raising when they did a security check for my brother while he was in the military. The men who showed up at the house apparently accepted his explanation because my brother got his clearance. This was in the sixties and the gov'ment knew what my father was subscribing to.

I understand what you're saying but that was then and this is now. FWIW, I knew and lived the 60's...all of them. In fact, I watched "American Grafiti" night before last for the 437th time.

"A comedian or comic is a person who seeks to entertain an audience, primarily by making them laugh. This might be through jokes or amusing situations, or acting a fool, as in slapstick, or employing prop comedy. A comedian who addresses an audience directly is called a stand-up comic."

He is not funny and has no appreciable talent of any kind. Why is he even on TV? :banghead:

Well, he is "funny looking". :headscratch

This is why I don't watch CNN. The fact is that ALL of their reporting has this kind of vapid ultra liberal crap embedded in it. I'm all for getting a balanced perspective by taking my news and editorial from multiple sources; but I also have a blood pressure problem (under control with medication). Watching this kind of revisionist tripe literally makes me feel ill.

Based on past babbling, my expectations were so low to begin with that it's hard to be disappointed.

It has a tendency to get my wife mad at me as I spout out some choice words when I hear or read their "stuff"...not good for my health, either.

Ok I'll swim upstream on this one. From time to time I find Maher humerous. Not to say I agree with most of his opinions but every now and then when I catch him on HBO he can funny. Piers on the other hand, is best viewed from a long distance and for very short intervals only. Leaves me completely cold. He appears to be the worst kind of hack raised in the Murdoch system. I usually look for humor in most things. Heck even Rush makes a funny every once in a while.

I too have my limits and have to switch them off at some point. I know the comments will be completely one sided from the commentators and the guests, but I get some good ammunition for discussions with a couple of lib relatives on my mother-in-laws side. MSNBC is probably the worst. It almost makes me want to have the "Fairness Doctrine" enforced. (not really) Keith Olbermann's inability to speak of the cuff rather than read the vitriol written by and for him was most apparent. He said something to the effect of, "I guess that was OK if you go in for that sort of stuff" "rlol". WOW! What great analysis! I still adhere to what Mason William's said about television. He said he doesn't watch TV, he keep's an eye on it!

All of it is liberal crap? Wow. That is a powerful statement.

I get that, but after a few episodes of Maher you should already know what he's going to say about almost everything. Once you understand collectivist fundamentals what they're going to say is easily predictable. Now, there may be a handful of those on the left that can make logical coherent arguments that are worth listening to (Alexander Cockburn, perhaps) but Bill Maher isn't one of them --he's part of the liberal herd, essentially a media whore appealing to the lowest common emotional denominator with enough pretense of intellectualism that his audience of liberal morons can congratulate themselves on their imagined superiority.

Hey you are in America, you can be anything you want to be! These days if you just say it often enough some people will start to belive you. Like I tell my wife several times each day; I am good looking, I am good looking.... :biggrinjester:
