Whats you AR camouflage color? post a pic.

Post by x007x »

Hi, I'm trying to decide on what camouflage I should get for my AR, and wanted to see some examples.

Honestly, that's a waste of time unless you're planning on being in jungle combat or something. An AR is not a sniper weapon. Build the gun first, paint it or drape burlap all over it later......if you still have your heart set on painting it. Personally, I wouldn't waste the time on that kind of stuff.

I have no rush for the camouflage. It was more for when I ever decide t do it; i'll have the one picked out. I do have my rifle planned out. Paid for half of it and that'll be here Wed, but I am waiting for the lower, upper, and bolt to come back in stock.

I'm not a fan of camo AR platform rifles. I've never really seen the need TBH. If its only purpose is to look cool, than I'd rather spend money on ammo and training. Center punching the ten ring is cool too.

That's pretty much where I was coming from.

Google is your friend, you can see examples and read for hours to add to the confusion.....

I didn't buy my 1911 in stainless with rosewood grips because I thought it would help its function. I also don't fault people for using linseed oil to give their wood stocks a nice finish, instead of just dumping it for a utilitarian plastic stock that will have fewer bedding needs. Guns are in so many ways also about style. There are as many styles as people. Faulting someone for wanting to make their weapon more meaningful to them in any way is close minded IMHO.

Allow me to be the first:

Thanks for the back up, but these guys have always given great advice, so i still keep thier info in mind. Also, i am building my own rifle and like what TAM said in another post. Having the satisfaction of building your own rifle, and i feel adding the camo is just finishing off the gun.

A camouflage paint job is cheaper and more functional than half the junk some people hang on their ARs. Or Harley-Davidsons.

If you like it, that's what's important. Even if it ends up looking like this.

If you're building a toy to look at, sure. Paint away.

I think the my point of leave it black and shoot it more still stands though.

Painting is still cheaper than all the toys people bolt on the rails of some AR rifles. But if you're arguing to keep it black and keep it stock except maybe for one good optic then I agree, although there's something to be said for spending the money on ammo so you can learn to shoot with iron sights and not have to worry about batteries or bumping a scope out of alignment,
