Exactly backwards, MedicMan218. Red Jacket ripped off Magpul's design and came up with the piece of junk.
They actually showed the Airsoft version of Magpul's design at the beginning of the Red Jacket show.

doesn't addding a stock to a pistol make it a class 3, or NFA weapon?

If a weapon has a barrel of less than 16" AND a stock, then you are correct, it requires NFA paperwork.
