My son's first AR

Post by jmra »

Just put together an AR 15 for my youngest son (10 yrs old). He has been shooting my AR for a couple of years and has his own hunting rifle (243).
Handed him the rifle today and wanted to see how he handled it without any instruction.

Couldn't help but notice the finger placement. His hands are too small to get his index finger up above the trigger but he did place it outside the guard. He noticed I was looking and he said, "don't worry Dad, my finger isn't going anywhere near the trigger. I was very proud.
Tomorrow we start working on take down and reassembly. Hope to be using the blindfold in a month or so.

Very nice. Is that a polymer lower? Maybe an NFA?

Aww, I love it when people advertise for me

You guys were great to deal with too -- patiently waiting while I dug around for matching serial numbered lowers. I must have looked like Santa digging around in his gun safe "rlol"

Excellent!

I hope to get my daughter her first this summer. Of course, I don't have one yet, so I'll have to get something for me first. Her's will probably be a S&W M&P 15-22, but it's still an AR, isn't it?

Just went through this very thing with my daughter last weekend! She showed ME how to strip it, clean it, and re-assemble!

Congrats on the build! Have fun with it.

Yes it is a NFA lower! Thanks to oldCannon for connecting me with a FFL who carries them and only a 20 min drive from the house. Plan on building a couple more for the other members of the family.
Best thing about this AR is I only have $535 into it and that includes the quad rail.
