Too little hands to rack the NEOS.

My daughter is 10yrs old however, her statue is as big as her 6yrs old brother. Her hands are still like that of 6yrs old. Last night after the pre-first-range cleanup for her new NEOS, she complained that she could not rack the NEOS with hammer down. She claimed that the slide is oily and could not have a grip and it hurts at the slide-serrations.

I offered her to load and make ready and pistol on safe, before I hand the pistol over at the range. Also, she wanted to learn to load the 10 rds mags. Oops she got one rd in reverse and I got if fixed for her. Too young

BTW, is there anyway to train those little hands to do the job?

Make sure she is not grabbing the frame or the rear sight area while trying to pull back. The Neos I had was really easy to rack, but then I'm not 10. LOL I would say give it time, and make sure not to leave the outside of the gun oily Dad.

Also, you could also have it locked back for now and teach her to push the release. Have fun, I miss the days when mine were that little.

...I've taught weaker people to hold the hands down at a low ready...extend weak hand and grip the slide firmly...then push with the gun hand and rack the gun, not the slide...far enough to snatch the slide out of the weak hand's fingers...easier for them to hold than to hold AND pull...worked well on a .45 SA...done quickly...

It works. My daughter was gripping the slide and pulling on it with her glock. Every now and then it would slip out from her fingers. Utilizing the technique the poster above recommends, she has yet to lose her grip. Heck... I have even gotten to where I do it the same way. Hold slide... push the pistol.

video you will see he pushes with his right hand while pulling the slide back with his left. Of course, the NEOS is quite a bit different than a 1911 but the little one should know that this procedure can be useful even when the hands are big and strong.

Mommy, Yesmeena and myself had a great time at ELM fork shooting range. We got a semi-private pistol bay and 2 RO with one a good Gun instructor. He did great job coaching my wife in here shootings espacially with SIG 522.

As a teaser, my wife, bore-sighted and zeroed her scoped Buffalo-Classic in 45-70 in just 10 rds! She was placing hole-over-hole at 25 yrds. with last 2rd at Bullseye!

Yesmeena did great too, with Sig 522 rifle she had .5" group at 7 yrds with some 50 rds made hole as big as a quarter.
