Mag disconnect for M&P
I am seriously considering and M&P 9mm compact. Some have mag disconnects and some do not. A few online specify they do and some specify they do not.... most don't say either way. Is there any way to know apart from asking them? IOW, is there some models that always do and some that never do?
Thanks!
Thanks!

cross check the exact model number of gun you're buying against S&W's web site - that should give you best indication ... S&W has a ton of varied models to meet all the stupid local laws in CA, MA, NY etc

The mag disconnect on an M&P is very easy to take out. Search the internet for the subject there are illustrated instructions how to do it. It took me about 20 minutes to remove mine.

Re: Mag disconnect for M&P
I know it is, but since they make them without, I'd just as soon save the trouble and any possible legal ramifications. Should you have any type of negligent discharge, and you have removed the removable thumb and mag safety, I can imagine that becoming an issue. Just like being punished on the range with it. At instructors school, those of us with Sigs had to use the decocker and safety on them between fire exercises even though I don't normally use it. Those who didn't have safeties didn't have to have them, but if you had them, you had to use them even if you usually don't. So sometimes having them you actually get punished for it! Unless it is single action, I don't want manual safeties!MoJo wrote:The mag disconnect on an M&P is very easy to take out. Mine does not have a magazine disconnect.
Engraved on the RH side is "Caution: Capable of firing with magazine removed"

Indeed...noticing that made it easier to find what I wanted online. Now have in my hands an M&P compact 9mm sans safetiesChemist45 wrote:Mine does not have a magazine disconnect.
