One Kaboom this weekend
As far as I know there was only one mishap this weekend at our Texas Steel Challenge Championship. This gun belongs to one of the guys from the Austin Team that came down. They felt it happened due to a round being having too long an OAL. I'm not sure, but I think at the light loads most of these fast guns are shooting this shouldn't be possible. I'm leaning towards a double charge.

So, the chamber split? I've never heard of that happening. First thought sauib that he tap rack kaboomed. Second thought double charge. Third thought a fault in the metal that finally gave up the ghost. Regardless scary!

He took some blast to the face and hand I believe. Fortunately nothing a band aid couldn't take care of.

That and the damage pattern is strongly suggestive of an overcharge of powder.Seabear wrote:9mm I believe and no obstruction.
Was the round fired a reload?

I'd say a double charge caused that from others I've seen. Glad no major injuries occurred.
