Ship my rifle to myself.??

Post by RioGrandeShooter »

I am traveling to TX in about 3 weeks and don't want to check it with the TSA/Airline.. (and I don't have a hardcase)

Whats the concensus of shipping my small AR to myself (with insurance) via UPS ground for the week?? (for $23)

I'd also be shipping 100 rounds of ammo via UPS Ground (with proper ORM-D labels) in separate pkg ($10).. ammo would be left buried on property in PVC tube with a 20 round ProMag ;-)

I can do a return label in advance ($23) to ship back via Priority Mail to myself back on the East coast Friday before leaving.

What would you say?? leave it home or ship it to have on my 11acres for protection for the week??

You cannot ship (by any means) State to State to yourself or anyone else........

Out of State long guns are only allowed to be shipped by FFL's with proper paperwork filled out at both ends.

You can drive and carry it with you.

I don't think you are correct..

(B9) May a nonlicensee ship firearms interstate for his or her use in hunting or other lawful activity?

Yes. A person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in care of another person in the State where he or she intends to hunt or engage in any other lawful activity. The package should be addressed to the owner. Persons other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of the firearm.

Ya'll play nice and quit bickering.

To the OP: Just one rifle? Where you are going I would want several but, I would carry it with me so I would be sure it was there when I get there.

for all that wasted time, effort and money, why not just buy the danged hard case (you do get to keep it) and take it on the plane with you?

No kidding. Won't shipping it have to be in a similar or same type of hard case used for travel on an airline?

I've shipped rifles in doubled boxes with 0 issues over the years.. PSA shippes rifles in plain boxes as well.

I'll be breaking it down and getting into a smaller SQ box so its not so obvious.. ;-)

$23 and $23 isn't that bad (and less than a good hard case..) and I have issues with the ELP airport for possible theft..

Seems like you have your mind made up. Zero issues before, not so obvious, $23 isn't bad, possible theft at airport....

Hope all goes well.

If you are going to bury the ammo and a mag on the property why not bury the AR also?

Actually, I got confused........
Happens sometimes with us "older folks"........ "rlol"

My mind tripped into the sale and transfer of a rifle, not the shipping of your own to yourself or someone else........

Just too many of these "Laws" infringing on our 2A rights to keep up with....... :banghead:

So that's where I messed up. :banghead: :smilelol5:

I am beginning to realize that it is all just not worth it to try and conform. I'm just gonna live the way I believe I should and if/when I run afoul of one or more of these crazy "Laws" I will just let them lock me up and feed me the rest of my life.......oh, that will take care of my medical needs too! :smilelol5:
