Calderon calls for assault weapon ban in U.S.

Re: Calderon calls for assault weapon ban in U.S.
boohoo. Our fault cartels want weapons to control their trade.
Them killing each other off is almost the only control the government has on cartels. They should thank arms smugglers. The only way to deflate the violence is to end the "war on drugs" that makes them so valuable.

Re: Calderon calls for assault weapon ban in U.S.
The assault weapon ban in Mexico is not working so Calderon needs to put the blame on someone else. If you are going to call for such action as he has, you need to clean up your own act first.
Re: Calderon calls for assault weapon ban in U.S.
Who gives a rat's Democrat what some third world "leader" wants the United States to do?

Sorta....
I could care less what Calderon wants, as far as his country is concerned. The security and violence in his country are his problems... not mine. But, if we as Americans truly want the violence in Mexico to end, we should not help by giving up our arms... we should give up our insatiable appetite for drugs.
The "War on Drugs," is a necessary thing to combat the appetite many Americans have for drugs. If we weren't buying drugs, we wouldn't need to combat the consequences of their use.
I'm not being overly simplistic. I'm being realistic. Anyone who uses illegal drugs.. meth, marijuana, cocaine, heroin.. directly contribute to the violence in Mexico, and that violence is dangerously close to spilling over our border in a manner that can't be handled by border security and police officers in our towns. What are these cartels fighting over? Money. Product distribution. The money to be made in drug trafficking is substantial, specifically when that demand is found in the relatively deep pockets of your average American.
The campaign to convince Americans that drugs are bad for them has failed. In the university I attend, I would bet good money that at least 50% of the students use recreational drugs on a fairly regular basis. Drugs are fun, they relax them and give them a chance to "enjoy themselves." There is nothing bad about that, and they know it. Sure, drugs are unhealthy.. and they all know it. They know marijuana smoke is bad for their lungs, but it gets them high--and as long as they don't smoke a daily bowl, they aren't too worried about dying of cancer.... and they are right! I won't go into the details of the health risks for heavier drugs such as heroin, but I think we can all agree that smoking an occasional blunt wouldn't kill you. It's harmful, yes... but it's not the worst thing in the world...
My point is, we should quit this failed attempt to convince Americans that drugs are bad--it obviously hasn't worked. We should be focusing on the fact the real evil in drugs is that they finance the violence that is tormenting our neighbor, Mexico. We should be focusing on the fact that the blunt they smoke may not be that unhealthy every now and then... but the $5 they spent to buy the marijuana to roll their blunt eventually makes it's way into cartel pockets. That's a magazine of ammunition to be used to keep Cartel trafficking lanes open.
I'm not advocating drug use. I despise them. I have just faced the fact there is nothing inherently evil or unhealthy about the occasional marijuana cigarette-- it's not worse than a marlboro red. But it is undeniable that that occasianal marijuana cigarette finances the cartels, and I make my stand there.

That is what I said. lol.
I work at a university and I will say marijuana is not even considered a drug by 85% or more of faculty, staff, and students. I won't say my feelings on it, but anyway. I think if some retart wants to use H or crack fine. enjoy. Just don't get medicaid. Legalize it and kilos will be worthless. Sell it at costco. The same people that do it now will continue. Look at prohibition. You say that someone cannot have something and they will prove you wrong.

It seems to me that the same type of competent border security that would prevent illegal immigration would also stop arms smuggling across that same border. If he doesn't want rifles taken into his house, he should lock the door.

Me neither. I think what he's done is absolutely treasonous and he has tried to turn us into or would sell us out to just about any other country with any socialist or Muslim country being at the top of that list. His contempt for our Constitution and freedom is ridiculous. However, he sure has gotten used to utilizing our military. Power has certainly corrupted him even further. The Annoyed Man wrote:Not me.VMI77 wrote:I"m a little reluctant to use the term "traitor,"......

As the economy dwindles and hope dwindles and morality dwindles the civil unrest, assaults, and crimes with guns will increase. Obama, if re-elected will be "forced" to enact new gun laws to help end the violence here and along the border. He won't want to do it but it's for the children.

Careful! Who'll protect the modern day Al Capone's and Nucky Johnson's and support their lifestyles? How will Columbia replace our constant supply of manpower and money, while having to prop up their own self-fulfilling "drug war" by themselves?JeepGuy79 wrote:boohoo. The U.S. has no "assault weapon problem"
If Mexico does, perhaps THEY should ban them.
Oh wait, they did.
Proof the bans do not work.
Typical government calling for "more of what does not work"
Perhaps that's why their citizens come here.

I'm starting to think that in the grand scheme of things, America, Canada & Mexico, are lands rich in resources that are for the taking, and the people don't matter.
Europe and Asia have been around for many thousands of years. America, a few hundred.
So, in a global view, these countries (empires) that have been around for so long, they will continue to always be. In a new world order point of view, we, the American CITIZENS are standing in their way of endless resources to feed and prosper their lands and people.
In order for these countries to freely take, without any resistance, from our lands would require mindless subjects who are not armed and are not free thinkers.
America has been the world's only superpower since WW2 and now we are in decline. In our absense, there will be a power vaccume which will be filled. China, Russia and Germany understand this and are preparing for this.
I think the plan of those who want global government realize that a free America does in fact stand in the way of their plans, and as long as we are allowed to own guns and have free elections, they can't enact their plans.
Collapse the economy of the country, take the guns away, allow the drug use to become rampant, allow the moral decay to continue & ELIMANTE THE CONSTITUTION. Then and only then, can you move towards your goals of one world government.
Just my thoughts, what say you?

They'd have to eliminate the constitution before they could seriously even try to take the guns away. Dunno how that would play out, but I wouldn't want to live in, around, or near any large population centers or major roads if it happens.magillapd wrote:I think the plan of those who want global government realize that a free America does in fact stand in the way of their plans, and as long as we are allowed to own guns and have free elections, they can't enact their plans.
