Is a High School Tennis Court Considered "Premises"
There is a high school tennis court near my house that a friend and I would like to start using during the evenings to play tennis. I typically keep my firearm in my equipment bag at the side or end of the court when I'm playing tennis.
My question is, does anyone know if tennis courts would fall under "premises" and whether or not it is legal to carry there (given that there are no high school games occurring at the same time)?

I wouldn't think tennis courts are a premises but don't take my word for it. Anyone else want to put their two cents worth in?(3) "Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The
term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk
or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

My .02 thinks likely OK as said above and if you do not go in a structure of any kind.
Back in the days when daughter played high school softball (adjacent to tennis courts), I frequently prepped the field on game days. Sometimes carried on ball field before the girls came out, but technically could not sweep out a dugout or step inside equipment shed without first putting the gun in truck - which I usually managed to park where at least visible.

I agree with the "no" crowd...
Especially if you are John "temper-tantrum" McEnroe...
Sorry, I couldn't resist the tennis angle on this one...

It was filed on 2/27/2007 and currently has no sponsors. Keep your fingers crossed that this one will quickly die. I have two kids in school and this would affect me as I regularly pick them up in the school driveways.

I don't know about anyone else but I think keeping a firearm in a bag that is not in your immediate control is a bad idea. You could get distracted during play and some kid or thief could have your bag in a heartbeat. I personally think its a bad idea all the way around.Braden wrote:There is a high school tennis court near my house that a friend and I would like to start using during the evenings to play tennis.
