S&W Sigma comments good or bad
I have just acquired a S&W Sigma 1st. gen. This gun came with the original box with the sales receipt which showed 2 boxes of ammo, in the box was the 2 boxes with one box empty and 10 rounds gone out of the second box. This gun looks brand new, the owner said he purchased it in 1994 took it out to the range and did not like the way it shot, took it home cleaned it put it up and did not even think about it until I mentioned about getting a Glock 19. I got this gun for about what 4 boxes of 9mm WWB would cost at Wally World. Have not had a chance to get to the range yet, but let me know your thoughts about this model S&W good or bad.

I shot two mags through one a few years ago......the trigger was horrible, but I did not experience any malfunctions.
If I read your post correctly, you got this one for well under a hundred bucks? I would personally sell it for profit.

Ah gahts one a' dem dar Smiffs.
It's okay. I like it's size quite a bit. the trigger I would like to worked on.
I'm not a big fan of the Glock/Sigma/XD style triggers, it's a DAO? I dunno if that's the right term, but me no likey!!
other than that, you got your money's worth. it's a good gun, otherwise, I've never had a problem with mine, I bought (rather) used and have put a few (5 hunnerd) rounds through it.
getcha a hi-cap mag fer it, and get used to the recoil, and you'll be i'ight!
good times!
or sell it to me, so I can have dual Smiths!!!

I have a current gen sigma 40. SW40VE. The trigger definitely isn't the best around, but for the price and reliability it's a pretty decent gun. You just have to get used to the strong trigger pull. As others have said, it's no competition gun by any means, but it would serve quite well for a truck, home defense, play around with, etc... gun.
Mine has never failed even once in over 4k rounds, so that's definitely a plus. If your's isn't the SWxxVE series then you likely have an old problematic version of the gun and judging by the age of it I would say it isn't a VE model.
It it's not a VE model, do not ever think of using it as a defensive weapon.

I test fired one a friend had when I was looking for a pistol for my wife. It ejected the empty casings straight back which hit you in the forhead every time. Since I was wearing a hat I didn't notice, but when my wife test fired it, it only took her one round to realize she didn't like it. :-)
I laugh now, cause she isn't looking over my shoulder, but the brass had a tendancy to go down between the glasses and face sometimes. Ouch, hot brass....
The trigger was fine from what I remember and I'm used to a 1911. I passed on it though.
