It's ready for the range.
I picked up my DPMS Oracle flattop upper today at the Post Office. Brought it home cleaned the barrel with a half dozen patches and some Hoppes No. 9. Looked over the rest of the upper and oiled everything with Mobil1 and Mated it to my new New Frontier Armory LW lower. Good snug fit no slop or play. I had a Tasco 3-9 laying around so I put that on for now. Tomorrow I'm going to the range with it. I'll post some pix after I shoot. The whole gun has cost me $525.56 so far.

I didn't know, so I googled DPMS Oracle to find out what caliber it was. Looks like they come in both 5.56 and 7.62....so which did you build?

Re: It's ready for the range.
The cost was for the upper and lower the scope was a take off from another gun it's just temporary till I decide on what kind of sight I want to put on this one. It's a 5.56 is there any other caliber for an AR?

AR-10 in .308, and thats always one of the big "pro AR" points in any AR vs AK debate....a new upper with a 5.56 lower and you have a new caliber, from 5.56 to 5.45x39, 7.62x39, more exotics like 50 beowulf, 300 blackout, 6.5 grendel 6.8 spc...MoJo wrote:The cost was for the upper and lower the scope was a take off from another gun it's just temporary till I decide on what kind of sight I want to put on this one. Please to re.member AR-10 in 7.62 came before the AR-15. Don't forget the other AR's including the AR-7 .22 LR.MoJo wrote:The cost was for the upper and lower the scope was a take off from another gun it's just temporary till I decide on what kind of sight I want to put on this one. Re: It's ready for the range.
Congrats on the build.
Not to mention the other calibers such as 9mm,458 socom( fun but expensive to shoot) and I've even seen a kit for 410 shotshells
I can't wait tobuild my 308.

Now that we've all derailed the thread, I hope mojo can put up a range report and some pics of his new gun!

I saw one of those fully assembled out at Cabela's a few days ago.

Here's a range report - - - BANG!
Now for an actual telling of what happened at the range.
1. It functioned flawlessly.
2. The scope I put on it kept shifting zero so any "groups" I got were more like "patterns"
3. I haven't had a chance to get back to the range to try it again with iron sights and a red dot that i know is good.
4. Pics to follow as soon as I take them.
