Lake Ouachita State Park

Post by BStacks »

I see that Arkansas is a reciprocating state.

They have a similar law regarding state parks: http://www.adptfoi.com/Parks/Park%20Ope ... eworks.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From the ACoE website: The land surrounding Lake Ouachita is part of the Ouachita National Forest, which encompasses 1.8 million acres in central Arkansas and southeastern Oklahoma

There are lots of discussion here regarding Army Corp of Engineers and I am still confused and unsure. Can I carry on my person and/or in my vehicle at Lake Ouachita State Park?

Boundaries
National Forests are not ACOE land
National Forests = can carry- IF ARKANSAS STATE LAW ALLOWS IT
Army Corps land = can't carry

#7 Question: Can I carry in National Forests?

Answer: Some states have state laws against carrying in a National Forest. You must be aware of the state
law. There is no Federal Law restricting Concealed Carry in a National Forest. You can see if carry in National
Forests in any state is legal by clicking on the state on the main page map you want info about. That states page
will open when you click on the map. Do be advised that any building on the National Forest belonging to the
Federal Government is off limits to concealed carry even if you can legally carry in the National Forest in that
state. They are considered Federal Buildings.

As you may know, the Bureau of Land Management and the United States Forest Service allow the transporting and carrying of firearms on federal lands in accordance with the laws of the host state where these two agencies manage lands.
I believe the National Parks Service (NPS) and the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) were contained in the Credit Card bill signed by Obama, so licensees are honored now in National Parks.

The last "Parks/Recreation" holdout ... is you can not carry on land owned by the ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS.....yet
The COE area covers 82,000 acres on which you may not possess ammo nor firearm.

I have requested USACE Boundary maps on other parks and the controlling authority will send a link or e-mail with a map, you can try to use.... They usually can't provide exact boundaries, but theoretically there are buried brass markers you should find psychically or something.
