Thanks to the glory of the internet, the rounds that work well in social situations are available, but prices are all over the map. For those who buy carry ammo online, where do you find the best selection/deals; assuming you are willing to share ;-) ?
what do you carry? I have never found anyone that had a better price the walmart :tiphat:

when I am looking online I normally check out http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and make sure what ever I am paying is less then what it would cost at academy / walmart but this almost always results in me deciding not to order online :mrgreen:

G26ster wrote:For those that like AmmoEngine, I'm surprised (no actually shocked) that they leave out so many vendors with much lower prices than they list on the AmmoEngine site. Here's an example for the .30 Carbine ammo I buy lots of:

.30 carbine Prvi Partisan - $37.89/50 as listed on AmmoEngine - supplied by AmmoBank

http://www.ammoengine.com/find/store_fr ... %253APP30C" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

NOT listed on AmmoEngine

.30 Carbine Prvi Partisan - $21.49/50 on Ammunition to Go site (that's drastically lower than the AmmoBank listing on AmmoEngine)

http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_i ... dgrrpnrev0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

NOT listed on AmmoEngine

.30 Carbine Prvi Partisan - $23.99/50 from cabela's site (that's also drastically lower than the AmmoBank listing on AmmoEngine)

http://www.cabelas.com/product/PPU-Rifl ... l+Products" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The two sites I listed are very popular and well known places, so I am befuddled by the lack of their presence on AmmoEngine's site. Seems like relying on AmmoEngine for the best deals available is not the best way to go. I haven't checked other calibers, but if the .30 Carbine is an example of their listings, I'll continue to a little more Google Foo before I buy.
The reason they aren't listed is most likely either the software Mike uses on Ammoengine won't work to crawl these sites or he hasn't been given permission by them to do it. A lot of the ammo deals sites depend on webcrawlers to either look for or update deals and they only draw from a specific number of vendors. That's where http://www.gun-deals.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is different. It's user submitted deals and is kept up to date by the users and volunteer moderators and administrators. Gun-deals has close to 400 vendors that deals can be listed from and if you find a deal and the website's not listed submit the vendor to the site and as long as it meets the sites criteria it'll be added. http://gun-deals.com/links" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you need ammo just look here. http://gun-deals.com/ammo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Put in your zip code and it'll give you shipping estimates. Note: The shipping is only an estimate based on average cartridge weights and is not neccesarily what the vendor will charge. There's to many variables involved to make it more accurate than this but the UPS shipping calculator is used to come up with these. It's just to get you into the ball park. The ammo prices are what's listed on the sellers site at the time it was submitted unless someone has flagged it as incorrect in which case an admin. will correct it. You can also sign up to be notified when new ammo is submitted. Just go to "Alert Preferences" and fill in what caliber and other info. you require about what you want to be notified about and you'll get an email when new ammo is added. Here's an example. You guys have a running deals thread going. Some of you know I added the 7.62x54R rusted tins of 440/rds of Russian surplus for $67.99 the other day. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=8345&start=1845" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Well when I added those to gun-deals anyone signed up for alerts to that caliber in the price range they're in would have been notified even if I hadn't listed them on the forum. You have to be registered for this part. Email is private and never given out to anyone.

I usually get .45 gold dots there for $26/50, and they have all of the cool LEO gear to look at as well.

Good info, thanks folks!! I carry HST, Gold Dot and Ranter T's depending on gun/caliber - can't get any of those at Wally or Academy. PDX1 is a good round, but is also WAY over-priced around the local stores I check. Have used SGAMMO, but they don't always have what I'm looking for when I'm looking. Has anyone had any good luck at the local gun shows?
