Ironically, the Martins could have sued Zimmerman if he hadn't been charged. Now if he prevails in his self defense claim, they won't be able to sue.

Stroo, I'm not so sure about that.
First off, I don't believe Zimmerman has any money that could be recovered.
Secondly, there is a provision in Florida's SYG law that basically says: If a civil action is brought and the court finds the defendant to be immune based on the parameters of the law, the defendant will be awarded all costs of defense.
That's the way it looks to me anyway.

If I were Mr. Zimmerman, that is the route I would take against the prosecutor and any federal prosecutor who tried to horn in.WildBill wrote:I guess that's good news for Mr. Zimmerman. I just hope when this case is dismissed they don't try to go the violation of civil rights route.Charles L. Cotton wrote:I'm with you Excaliber! That affidavit is absurd.Excaliber wrote:I am astonished that this is the probable cause affidavit written by not one but two investigators with over two decades of homicide investigation each after extensive investigation in a case with an extremely high national profile.
It reads like something put together on a napkin in the local coffee shop based on elements grabbed from the first day's news reports.
The prosecutor's office should hang its head in shame.

Violation of civil rights under color of law. She's looks a lot more guilty of it than Stacey Koon ever did.
Tyranny is identified by what is legal for government employees but illegal for the citizenry.

I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.
