New M&P Shield

Post by karder »

I went gun shopping with my brother yesterday and he picked up a new M&P Shield. I know the M&P series is very popular, but I have not had my hands on too many of them. Boy was I impressed with this little pistol!
It is extremely compact and light and should be a breeze to conceal. We took it home and broke it down. Take down was easy and required no tools. We got it cleaned up and hit the range.
The accuracy was excellent and the sights are top notch. So many of smaller pistols seems to have inferior sights, but not this baby. 15 yards out and we were making 2 inch groups, and neither of us is a very good shot. No malfunctions of any kind shooting 200 round of budget 9mm ammo.
I am really impressed by this pistol and I would have bought one myself except they only had one in stock and they said it had only been in the display case for about 15 minutes. I think S&W has a big hit on their hands. My brother paid $449.00 for it and it was sitting right beside a Walther PPS which was marked $599.00. Heck of a deal for a really nifty gun.

The above link is the Smith and Wesson M & P Shield page, from which you can access a nice video about 3 minutes long.

Academy Sports and Outdoors has had the Shields priced at $399 - that's if you could get one!

Although the Shield has been developed to chamber both 9MM and .40, the 9's are currently the only ones available.
The .40's will be out sometime later, timeframe unknown to me.

Thanks for the report. By the way,did you see my comment on you in the other thread about Ukrainian troops stopping
traffic in Texas? :-)
