Prostate cancer untreated in a young man (70 or younger) can be fatal. Over age 70 the chances are something other than prostate cancer will cause death. There are several treatment options, surgery is the most radical but the one with the highest success rate.
Dave2 now that your dad has been diagnosed you are at a higher risk. If you are over 40 please have a PSA and be sure to keep a check on your prostate health. It's only deadly if undetected and left untreated.
