I got tased today
As part of a demonstration for a Citizen's Police Academy class today, I got a brief jolt from a taser. All expectations that it would hurt were confirmed!
It was actually quite cool that it immediately stopped hurting when the juice was removed. I could feel a little tension at the contact points, but no more pain.
When the student who recorded it sends me the video, I'll add it, though I may have to censor it a little.

Did you show any resistance? Did it knock your lights out?

Re: I got tased today
Electricity and I are old friends, but it's been quite a while since we've danced. I never did like dancing. I've been shocked many times throughout my life starting with regular house current at about 6-7 years of age when looking for the wall outlet in the dark. Later in the Navy I had a few run ins with 440 three phase from my Tomcats and even once from the radar power supply from about 7-8 feet away. One of the fire control techs asked me to watch the power supplies he had just replaced to see if there was anything weird going on when he powered them up. Next thing I know a blue arc came out and hit me in the shoulder and knocked me back about 5-6 feet on my gluteus maximus. I think that was my last dance. I've been REALLY careful since then. I would not look forward to being tased.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

He would only give me one second. I'm sure there's some liability concerns, as they seemed hesitant at first to even do it.Glock 23 wrote:How long was the ride? I've been on a 5sec run and it was no bueno.

This. Plus some residual exposures during fights.Glock 23 wrote:How long was the ride? I've been on a 5sec run and it was no bueno.
Agree - TASER is 5s of intense pain, and then you're done. Spray is a good 10m of intense pain, and then an hour of residual pain, plus the secondary exposure once you hop in the shower.cajunautoxer wrote:I'd rather get tased than mased
