Six Flags ok to carry?

Six Flags...any 30-06? Can I carry? I searched the site and found nothing. Thanks in advance

PC 46.035 (b)(5) it is illegal to carry in an amusement park. Amusement park is defined in PC 46.035 (f)(1) as "...a permanent indoor or outdoor facility or park where amusement rides are available for use by the public that is located in a county with a population of more than one million, encompasses at least 75 acres in surface area, is enclosed with access only through controlled entries, is open for operation more than 120 days in each calendar year, and has security guards on the premises at all times."

Bellow that is PC 46.035 (i) ) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.

What this means is that it is perfectly legally for a CHL to carry if unless the place is properly posted via 30.06. If I remember correctly none of the 6 Flag locarions were posting.. this is a new season coming up though.

They may give you verbal notice once you set off the metal detector. This was taken from the Six Flags Website.

WEAPONS
Entry into Six Flags Over Texas premises in possession of a firearm is prohibited by state law. We support this law with electronic screening devices at the Main Gate. Since metal objects may activate this system, please allow our staff to inspect bags and purses upon request.

I find it amusing that they ask you to allow their staff to inspect bags and purses upon request, although if you refuse I guess they can refuse you admittance to the park.

Six Flags in Arlington has probably the largest, most conspicuous 30.06 signage I have ever seen.

Yep. it is huge. You won't be carrying into Six Flags.

Yeah...their sign easily meets the 1" lettering requirement. I think the sign is almost as tall as I am.

A year or five back, there was a flap about Six Flags trying to prohibit even off-duty LEOs' carrying. Not sure how that one shook out, but they ain't carry friendly ...

I disagree - Six Flags is just about the only place I will go that is posted. I know the metal detectors are hardly fool-proof, but they do take reasonable precautions to ensure weapons do not enter the park. I find this to be acceptable.

If I had my way, I'd leave the metal detectors and let CHL's carry, but then I'd have to worry about the (very unlikely, but still present) possibility of my pistol flying out of the IWB holster

I used to work security at Fiesta Texas in San Antonio a few years ago. I am not sure as to the signs that are up now, but when I worked they did not allow you to carry. If someone was an off-duty LEO they would ask them to lock it up in either their vehicle or in the security office, but if the officer said that they wanted to keep it on them they could. Others with weapons could not enter the park. They use the metal detectors to check for weapons. If you do not want to be checked they show you the exit, you are not allowed to enter the park.

Many moons ago, when I was a poor struggling college student, I worked at the Six Flags in New Jersey. The company, on a whole, was not firearms friendly. Now, when I first started working there, they were owned by Time Warner. Then, as I left, there was partial ownership by some investment group (Davidson Company?). Now...who knows. But I'd imagine the 'core' of the company is still very much against...after all, it is an entertainment company.

Safetywise...I dunno. At least in New Jersey, there was no real screening for employees. You entered through a whole other side of the park, away from guest view. There were separate changing facilities and the 'bank' where folks handling cash picked up and deposited their tills. The employee entrance was guarded, but the only thing checked was your ID. IIRC, you couldn't take a bag into the park and any bag coming out of the park (through the employee entrance) had to come with a reciept (to show you purchased what you had). But again, no physical body screenings or metal detectors.

I mean, on a day to day basis, no, I wouldn't be concerned that I couldn't carry inside of a Six Flags. But it's one of those things...never let your guard down.

thanks guys for all your replys. I didn't carry, however I don't know how I didn't remember the amusement park part of the rules. I only remembered the pro sporting events and such.

The funny thing was I totally missed the Texas sized 30-06. Maybe it was because I wasn't carrying that I just wasn't looking. Or maybe I had gone back to the White state of readiness.
