Worldview - China Accuses US of Human Rights Violations

Private ownership of guns is a Human Rights Violation and is a personal security issue??? Wow. I believe Patrick Henry uttered, "Give me Liberty or give me death.", which is oft mentioned along side the "They'll have to pry them from my cold dead hands". Obviously, these concepts don't resonate with a population subject to the whims of their Maoist overlords, or maybe the concepts do resonate in the populace but no one is aware because the overlord-controlled media don't let that out.

Anyway, I thought the artlcle might prompt some interesting discussion...

Now the scary part is, will they enforce it through our debt to them?

They can't. All they can do is call in their debt and bankrupt us. But they can't force a gun ban on us, they lack the legal means of doing so, and they lack the military means of doing so. The PRC has approximately 4,585,000 men and women under arms compared to our roughly 2,927,754 (both figures from Wikipedia), but China lacks the means of delivering its troops against us, so it cannot force anything on us by military means. We still outnumber them in deliverable megatonnage and ICBMs with heavier lift capacity.

China would stand more to lose by calling in their debt than they would gain. China not only can't, they won't try because they're not stupid. This statement of theirs is meant for internal consumption. As more and more of their populations learns about the U.S., both as affluent Chinese come here as tourists, and as the stay at home population access the Internet, the more that they will learn about the American tradition of firearms ownership AND that we take it to be a self-evident right. The Chinese gubmint doesn't want their citizens to get any big ideas. So they portray our self-evident right as a human rights violation, hoping that their citizens will feel good about their bondage.

The House is in republican hands and about to get even more so. The Senate may gain republican seats. Obama is going to lose.........badly. And, we have a 5/4 conservative majority in the Supreme Court. Liberal politicians don't need the excuse of being owned by the Chinese to try and take our guns. They'd gladly do it on their own. The Chinese can't force them to do what they would already do willingly. And even if the dems keep control of the Senate (which might not happen), The house will not pass such a bill. Therefore such a bill could not get to the president's desk for a signature. Furthermore, SCOTUS would shoot it down. And, assuming Romney wins the election, he is WAY too beholden to the NRA this time around. He'd never sign such a bill because he knows it would mean the end of all his political ambitions.

In short, the Chinese are not working for our national interests, they are working for their own.............but so is every other nation on the planet including our own allies. They're just not the threat a lot of people think they are. Actually, Russia is a much bigger threat to U.S. interests right now.

Chinese citizens may not be able to own guns, but some of them can buy ammunition; I've read that when a dissident is executed with a shot to the back of his head, the Chinese government presents the next of kin with a bill for the bullet.
