I thought his 1911 was in the Huntsvilel prison museum. Whos is that one then?

Lee Simmons is also responsible for the demise of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.
After their raid of the prison system’s Eastham Unit caused the death of one of the guards,
Mr. Simmons hired former Texas Ranger Frank Hamer to find and put an end to Bonnie and Clyde.
Mr. Hamer did just that. Upon his return, Mr. Hamer presented a pistol from the Bonnie and Clyde death car to Mr. Simmons.

but I have visited the Huntsville Prison Museum, and IIRC, the pistol is a 1911, in a case in the museum.

I know it is a 1911 in the case as I have seen it several times, I just cant remember whose it was. I seem to recall it is nickle plated as well.

I really enjoyed walking into and touching some living Bonnie and Clyde history in a little curio shop in downtown Spring. Stumbled on it and was wowed!!!

From what I've read, the Barrow gang must have littered the Midwest with firearms. Many were stolen from the National Guard, police, and probably their victims, and abandoned when the gang had to rapidly displace without packing. Provenance would be tough, although records from Hamer and a few others would help.
