Can I Carry Here?

Post by Blindref757 »

I work summers for a COMMERCIAL driving school. I teach both in the classroom as well as in the car. Can I carry? There are no company policies and the owner is very pro-gun.

I think this is a trade school and does not qualify as a "school" that is statutorily off limits. If it's not against company policy, like you said, and they don't put up any signs I think you're good to go. I'm jealous.

Even if it is a statutorily off limits "school" ... If I recall correctly, Texas allows carrying at school with written permission.
http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/d ... /PE.46.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Sec. 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05(a):

(1) on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the institution;
So, Sounds to me like .... boss owner of the school, can write you a note that it's ok, then it wouldn't be illegal. even if it was a "school"
