When the dog you are walking is a 5lb Maltese with pink ribbons in her hair, I am not sure the term "walking tall" applies. I live in a rural area south of Houston and people often dump dogs here when they no longer want them. Over the years we have had children in our area mauled by some of these stray dogs. I started carrying the Mattock handle as a way of dealing with them other than shooting them it the need ever arose. I know the deputy sheriffs that patrol our area have seem me out walking with it but they have never done anything except wave. The crack heads and petty thieves that plague our area are probably a bigger concern of theirs that some fat guy with a foo foo dog. However, I don't want to risk my CHL by carrying a "club" if that is how it would be classified.

A mattlock is what I've always called a pick-axe, so basically an extra thick axe handle. Not really a cane, more of a "be good" stick.stroo wrote:What is a mattock handle cane?
