The DPS recieved your packet. However, it takes 2-3 weeks for them to pick up your packet from the mail room and manually enter all of your information into their database.
My package arrived in Austin on 8/8/12 and im still waiting for them to update the website. It just takes time....

I got antsy & submitted a question using the dps online 'email us' link. Their response:
So rather than continue to ping the dps site, I'm going to try to use my time as wisely as I can: brush up/learn some tactics, range-time, research & buy gear, etc. Anything to keep from hitting that doggone refresh button!Once documents are received by the department, they undergo processing before being entered into the system for the applicant to track. Please allow more time for your record to reflect the receipt of documentation. Right now, it takes 3-4 weeks before we can see a status of the paperwork you mailed in to us. The overall processing time for new applications is 60 days, and 45 days for renewals.

Two weeks is a pretty typical time from mailing the documents to DPS logging receipt of the documents. Your tax dollars at work.
