1911's are an addiction. There is no 'cure', only another fix.
My stepson was at the house one day and I was showing him my first one. He's a 9mm guy. Has an FN and a SIG. He'd heard all the talk about what an antiquated design it it, low capacity, blah, blah, blah. I gave him a rundown on the 1911 MOA, packed it in a gun rug, handed him a box of shells, and told him to try it next time he was at the range (we had a birthday party to go to instead of our normal 'range day').
He calls me from the range all ecstatic. How he fired 50 rounds and basically made one big hole. He's hooked now and saving his nickles and dimes for a 1911.

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. - John Adams

Sorta happened the same way for me. I was skeptical in the beginning because I wasn't confident that I could deal with a safety. A friend handed me his 9mm and said take it for a test drive. It took me about 10 minutes to acclimate to the safety. I was in love and I wanted to take it home with me (the 1911 not the friend
). He had to practically pry it out of my hands to get it back. I'm always keeping my eyes open for another one to add. I have 2 black 1911s so the next one is going to be brushed stainless. That is when I can afford my next one.
I've heard that argument only a .45acp is a 1911, and I fervently disagree. Just thought I'd put that out there.
