- XDm barrels are match grade. XD barrels are not.
- Adjustable grip size through interchangeable backstraps.
- Different magazine dimensions. XDm has slightly higher capacity than its XD counterpart.
- Slightly different shaped slide with different shaped grasping cuts in the slide.
- XDm slide comes right off during stripping. No trigger pull necessary. (In fact, my XDm takes down easier than any of my other guns.)
- XDm has shorter trigger reset than a XD......still longer than a Glock's.
- Different checkering moulded into grips. XDm checkering is more aggressive, easier to hold onto.
I have shot one other XD pistol, a friend's XD .40 Compact, and I was suitably impressed with it, which is what got me to thinking about getting one in .45 eventually. They are very good guns. I think the XDm pistols are marginally better. Springfield's pricing reflects that difference, but I didn't care. I waited until the XDm45 Compact was available before making my choice, and I went with the XDm. It seemed worth the price difference to me.
