In other words....America, turn them all in.Firearms. We recognize that the individual right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition, and we will preserve Americans' Second Amendment right to own and use firearms. We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation. We understand the terrible consequences of gun violence; it serves as a reminder that life is fragile, and our time here is limited and precious. We believe in an honest, open national conversation about firearms. We can focus on effective enforcement of existing laws, especially strengthening our background check system, and we can work together to enact commonsense improvements—like reinstating the assault weapons ban and closing the gun show loophole—so that guns do not fall into the hands of those irresponsible, law-breaking few.
Anyone who wants to "open a conversation" about how best to violate my individual rights will never get my vote.
The anti-gunners/democrats are always talking about "compromise", finding "middle ground".
Well, they took half with the 1934 National Firearms Act. Then another half with the 1938 Federal Firearms Act. Then another half with the 1968 Gun Control Act. Then the various 1986 Acts had a lot of little poison pills including the Hughes Amendment another half, another half to The Crime Control Act of 1990, another half for The 1994 Brady Act and one for the 1994 AWB.
Add up the 40,000 or so gun laws, and I am down to about 1/10th of 1% left.
So my "compromise" -- let's meet in the middle -- starts with why don't those anti dim wits repeal half the laws. Then we can "compromise" some more after that.
'Cause I'm done with any "compromise" that is just double-speak for taking away more of my rights. The answer is NO.
