Those seem to be in the news lately, you'd think they are avoiding convenience stores, but why

According to the Denver news, it is a botched robbery that has turned into a hostage situation.

The showdown that began around 10 a.m. with gunfire and forced the closure of Colfax Avenue in both directions and the evacuation of residents and businesses and the lockdown of four schools ended peacefully just after 4 p.m. with no one injured and two men in custody.
