My new carry...

Post by OldCannon »

Well, I need to swap out the threaded barrel, but I decided to "downgrade" from a Glock in .40 S&W to a wimpy, non polymer 9mm.

I think my Glock is gonna get dusty in my safe now

Would love to, but they block yahoo.com addresses for signups. I've had a Yahoo.com email address since 1997. That's 105 in dog-years. That forum system blocks people on a very antiquated notion of spammers and "throwaway" addresses. Valid concerns in the late 90's. 15 years later? No.

Pity.

May it give you as many trouble free rounds as mine has given me. Welcome to easy street.

Yeah, I've heard that, and the fix is to register with your ISPs free account and then trash that email address and add your regular one once approved.

No thanks. Not very keen on using a forum that forces me to be dishonest just to participate. That's a very odd inversion of the purpose of blocking those emails, isn't it? :headscratch

I'm on Sigtalk now though, same name as here :thumbs2:

Thats not dishonest, so I'm confused! I've got 5 email addresses that I use for various purposes. Life doesn't limit you to just one!!! The owner just feels that it cuts down on the actual spam/bots/trolls, and he's, well, he's the owner! Thanks for turning me on to SigTalk!

I monitor three email addresses: My "day job" email (I'm not giving him that one), my FFL business email (I'm not giving him that one), or the yahoo one I use for my "normal" life. If I made a fourth one, I wouldn't use it, which would mean any "notifications to subscribers" associated with that forum would never be seen by me, because I never had any intention of reading that email address, including any potential important messages from the administrator.

So, I guess it's not "dishonest," but I certainly have no desire to bend to one forum, out of about three dozen that I participate in, just because the owner hates yahoo.com addresses for the wrong reason (another hint: I manage a forum myself that has thousands of posts a day for a major corporation, I can assure you that "fake email addresses" on yahoo.com and hotmail.com are the LEAST of what modern hackers do. Believe me, the really dedicated ones can cause some very major destruction, and they could care less about making a fake email address :grumble )

I tried to join the Sig forum a long time ago. Never got approved. Finally gave up.

I have a "Jumping.Frog AT xxxxx.com" email address established that I never really use. I just set it up to forward all messages to my primary personal account. It has come in to be useful once in a while when I don't want to give out any of my regular email addresses.

My wholesalers list them, but they're not in stock yet. They would likely run you in the 900 range, give or take $50, depending on actual demand. Frankly, I think there's a better bargain to be had with a refurbished P228 ($500-600 range).
