Texas Gun Trader Site

Post by Kahrry »

I just recently registered and have sent two messages to two different local people. I'm interested in purchasing what they have for sale but have not heard back from either for over a week. Is this common for this site? Is it as bad a craiglist where people have a tendency to not respond or check their messages? I haven't sold there either so I don't know if the messages get sent to your linked e-mail account.

Anyway, I was just curious about the site and how efficient it is.

Yep, in my limited experience about 3 of my 10 or so messages got replies.

I have not had that problem. When people post there "email" I always use that first, but even using the PM's I have not had any trouble.

The site goes down a lot and that is aggravating.

I have gotten responses to most of my messages although I haven't done much in the last 6-9 months.

I think a 50% response rate is about my average.

I used to check that site twice a day, and bought quite a few items through it.
But since they changed it a few months ago I hardly go there.
I think they really screwed up their site.
Such a shame, opportunity wasted.

I am 1 for 1 in replies to my query, and I am batting 1000 for my own replies to the queries of others. It's not really the website's fault. There are just as many flaky people in the gun world as anywhere else. Sad, but true.

:iagree: The site doesn't control the personal messages. I have less success at Glock Talk since they have changed their site.

I like to deal her in the DFW area and especially with people here on the forum.

I've had good luck on there both selling and buying. I've only had one occasion where I didn't get a reply and figured it was already sold and they hadn't removed the ad yet.

does the site notify your linked email when you have a new message or do I just need to keep checking back?

I think it depends how you set up your account.

There's a lot of flaky people on there as TAM said. You'll get lowball offers every week if you try to sell something that people want. I've sold a few things on there and had a good experience with all of my buyers, it just took a while to find a good buyer amongst the membership of the site.

I'd agree with this. I've sold a few items on TGT and wading through some of the lowball and flaky offers can be exasperating some times. I do not reply to people who won't provide a full name and complete contact information. And I have stopped meeting with people who refuse to speak on the phone prior to a meeting.

Texas Hunters Forum is by far the busiest classifieds site in the state.
But you do get a lot of lowball offers. Still works pretty good for me.

I have had good luck with TGT website so far. The main problem I have had is when the site sends a message to my email the email client sends it directly to the spam folder and I did not notice this untill I missed a few messages. You have to tell your email program it is not spam.
