I have a set on my M&P15-22, and my son has a set on one of his carbines and a set on his wife's carbine. I believe that he also put a set on a carbine he built for his FIL.

I will grant that they are probably not nearly as rugged as a metal sight would be, so if you plan on being under an arty barrage, that could be a deal breaker. (That may be why your friend's agency requires metallic sights.) As far as accuracy goes, while I'm sure they are not what you would call a "precision" sight like a A.R.M.S. #40-LP, but they are plenty accurate enough for quick and dirty field use, and they don't cost $130 like just the single rear A.R.M.S. #40-LP would cost. (I know about the A.R.M.S. #40-LP because I put one on my wife's carbine. Yes, they cost a lot, but they are way worth the price.)

I think that, for that price point, the Magpul MBUS is a very good product, and you'll probably enjoy them and get good use out of them.

My Colt came with the Magpul rear sights and standard A2 front sight. So far I haven't had any problems and they are plenty accurate for what I'm using them for. One nice thing about the sights is that they lock into a groove when they are in the raised position. While they are in that position they can still be lowered with one finger without having to unlock anything. I think this helps if they are dropped or catch on something. I wasn't sure what to think of them either at first but they seem to be made of the same material as the PMags and those are very durable. The only downside is that the rear sight doesn't have an elevation adjustment like A2 rear sights do. All elevation adjustments will have to be done with the front sight. Wow. Now I don't feel so bad about my MBUS purchase, but now I do feel bad about my Troy sights.

Seriously though, if cost is no factor, I really REALLY like the A.R.M.S. #40-LP rear sight. I don't know much about their front sight products, but that rear sight is just plain awesome.

great deal for the cash. I have them on one rifle. I really like them. I am in love with them for the cash and will buy another set no doubt.

That said they are nearly as nice or cool to look at as my hk style flip up nights from troy ind. but I suck just as bad shooting with those! For real they both function about 100% the same minus the night sight part. I wouldn't drop the coin on another set of the troys but I will for sure buy another set or two of the magpull mbus. Best deal on the market in my opinion.

Same with my Colt. I'm fine with them. I didn't even realize I could flip the smaller aperture out of the way for the first couple of weeks I had it. I actually noticed it first on my daughter's M&P15-22, not an MBUS, but then checked mine and it had it too.
