SIG ACP. I don't get it

Post by markthenewf »

Saw this in the latest Guns & Ammo rag.

Seriously? Have they all run out of ideas? I just don't get it. There are some things I look at and think what a waste of time/effort/bucks. It just looks like an incredibly useless thing to do. At least with a pistol-caliber carbine you get the additional barrel length.

Cheers!

Seriously, you can't blame the guy for trying.

There have been many successful products that have come from stupid ideas. ;-)

Doesn't adding a fore grip to a pistol make it a NFA firearm?

Unfortunately, the fascists at the ATF see that scary stock as magically creating a short barreled rifle (SBR) which means you’d have to register it on a Form 1, pay the $200 tax stamp fee and wait six or so months to get permission to use it.

This, incidentally, adds a little confusion to the mix. In keeping with the ATF’s method of determining what exactly a firearm is, it’s highly likely that they would consider the pistol itself to be the firearm, meaning that if you later wanted to use a different pistol with the ACP, you’d need to re-register and re-pay the transfer tax.

With that in mind, I just can’t see any reason why someone would want to go through all the ATF hoopla just to get a folding stock.

I'm thinking of carrying one in stock, actually.

If a customer asks to buy one, I'll pull it out and beat them over the head with it until they come to their senses.

Considering their history at interpreting the law and changing their mind, it won't surprise me if they later decide the little hook up front is a fore grip and that turns the assembled unit into an AOW. Does anyone else remember ATF ruling certain wallet holsters turned the assembled unit into an AOW?

Even worse, NFA is unconstitutional but no President so far was honest enough to publicly say that and moral enough to pardon people convicted of violating such an obviously unconstitutional law.

I would have thought you'd go for the 1911 version. http://mechtechsys.com/1911.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ;-)

You'd think, right? In a pistol, yes, but for a pistol caliber carbine, I want a double stack magazine with capacity.

Only if foregrip is perpendicular to the barrel.

You know that the "zombies" people prepare for are not actual zombies right?

:iagree: :iagree:

I view people using the word "zombies" to be a euphemism since the word they really mean isn't really used in polite company anymore. Some people don't even realize that is what they are doing, but scratch deep enough and you'll often find something.
