3-D Printer Company Seizes Machine From Desktop Gunsmith

Cody Wilson planned in the coming weeks to make and test a 3-D printed pistol. Now those plans have been put on hold as desktop-manufacturing company Stratasys pulled the lease on a printer rented out for Wiki Weapon, the internet project lead by Wilson and dedicated to sharing open-source blueprints for 3-D printed guns. Stratasys even sent a team to seize the printer from Wilson’s home.

My limited experience with 3D printed parts leads me to believe that a 3D printed firearm would indeed be a single-shot weapon and likely not very accurate. The material is just not hard enough and will melt when fired. Very different strength characteristics than a "printed Glock".

I can appreciate the project from a curiosity standpoint... too bad the guy didn't have enough money to fund it on the down-low. Crowdsourcing is inherrently non-confidential.
