Range qualifying cards

I'm not one to try and reinvent the wheel. Does anyone have a good sign off range score card I can have. I liked the one they had when I qualified as instructor, but I can't remember what it looks like.

Except for keeping rack of penalties such as shooting after the whistle, it seems easiest to check the targets at the end and record PASS/FAIL on the CHL 100. What am I missing?

I am just trying to cover myself. I have been reading threads talking about recaord retention. I know all we need now is pass or fail but, I like the idea of a sign off card ( like the one they use when I qualified for my Instructors license)for students to sign showing they agree with their score. if some time in the future we need this, I will already be in the habit of using this as proof of pass.

DPS says you don't need them. I would not keep anything that you don't need to. Just remember that things like scorecards, kept targets, etc can be suopenaed if your student is involved in a self-defense shooting. You and they would probably be better off without records like that.

You can't be forced to provide records [evidence] that you don't have.

I do keep records of my NRA classes and some other coaching classes, but I don't keep the CHL scores.

Interesting though... has anyone else been through this... I was called in to the DPS office in Mt. Pleasant, TX and asked about my records. The officer asked about my CHL class but did not ask for any records. She told me that, "Next time I will need to present all my documentation. However, this time would not be required to present them."

She asked me questions like:
Do you keep your records for 3 years? I said, "YES"
Do you keep a record of the Test Scores? I told her, "NO", but I do keep record of Pass/Fail
Do you teach for 10 hours? I said, "YES"
Do you cover the 4 required subjects? I said, "YES"
Do you keep a copy of all completions? I said, "YES"
Do you notify the DPS 2 weeks before class? I said, "YES, unless I have a request for a limited time schedule"
Do you notify the DPS within 3 days after class? I said, "YES"

In the begining we were required to keep a card for five year's with the student's pre-test score and shooting score. The shooting score was certified and signed by the instructor, the student, and a third party, (usually another student) after the first shooting by a CHL we were contacted by the DPS and told to destroy those record's.
