M&P Shield Holster

Post by rentz »

I finally bit the bullet so to speak and ordered a shield when i saw one available online.
Having never actually seen one in person but read such great reviews I sense this will end up being my preferred carry pistol.

What are some good holster options for it? I know the there is the standard comptac or crossbreed, just curious what people who already own one are using and if there are smaller holster makers who make shield holsters that I should consider.

Also, anyone change out the sights to night sights? I haven't seen many options out there.

Thanks.

I wound up going with a leather/kydex IWB from White Hat in Dallas for my PPS (similar in size to Shield). Same basic design as a CrossBreed, but thinner leather and less bulky overall. I love my CBST for a full size service pistol; but their CBST for a PPS just wasn't scaled down well for a smaller PPS.

I use a couple of G26/27 holsters ith it and they work great. One is a Don Hume 721 and the other is a Desantis. It fits better in the Desantis than the G27 did.

I also have an Old Faitful Holster for it but I replaced the clips because they were so tight I couldn't adjust it on the belt. This one is specifically made for the shield.

Check out Tommy Thies holsters. I use one of his horsehide holsters with Velcro crossbreed clips and it works great with my shield.

They have to be made particularly for the Shield because of the width of the pistol being so thin.

Gotcha thanks, guess the manufacturers havent supplied the big sites like midway and brownells with much yet.

Taking the shield out today, if I like it then it's going to be my main carry so i'll order some good sights

Already ordered a pj's holster but no idea when it will arrive.

They are located over in Ft. Worth off of I-30 just past 820. I just drove over and they did them for me while I waited.

The Shield holsters are hard to find for sure. I saw one on Cheeper Than Dirt, the picture was a tan righthanded holster so I clicked on it. Prented out a copy of the order and read it. A left handed black holster :nono: Now I have to wait tell it gets here and return it :totap:

I have 2 holsters for my Shield, both from Galco Gunleather in Arizona.

I have a Galco Stinger right hand in black for OWB carry and a Galco Stow-n-go for IWB carry. Both are very good quality leather pieces.

I can take and post pictures of them tonight if you would like. I can finally put these to use since my CHL came in yesterday!

I was able to take my Shield out today. I shot from the Galco holster I have. It was a great shooting pistol again. I have about 600 rounds through it without one single issue. The Shield match with the Galco is a winner.

Glad it shot well for ya. I have really grown fond of mine. It is my daily carry. I guess now I will have to get rid of a couple'a pistols.
