I got it bad now. A lady at the range this weekend let me shoot her Stainless Ultra Carry II. All I can say is WOW! Hey I can dream can't I?

I had 2 Kimbers....meh! OK, but not outstanding.

For the money I spent on them, I could have had a nice long range rifle; a real nice one.

Sold them at a loss and never looked back.

I'm a Kimber fanboy. I've heard the negatives and I can honestly say that I've had ZERO issue with my Ultra CDPII. ZERO...

It's my EDC and is a joy to shoot at the range plus it is purty.

I have several HKs, couple of Rugers, a S&W, a Colt, and a Kimber. The Kimber will out shoot any of them EVERY time. Mine is a Pro CDP bought in new 2003. I know Kimbers can be polarizing and there are lemons with all manufacturers, but my Kimber rocks.

My wife has a Kimber Solo Stainless (9mm)
It shoots nice, and the size makes it totally pocket carry-able.

I don't mind shooting it, I hate taking it down!

I have a Kimber Ultra Stainless that will out perform most full sized 1911's. I know some Kimbers don't function well, I had a CDPII I sold before finding this one. The CDP shot like a rail, but was VERY finicky.

From someone that has had and traded 2 Kimbers, I have found that if you get a good one it is real good, but if you get a bad one it is real bad. Unfortunatly both that I have had were in the bad line up.

Wow I didn't expect so many negatives. Won't Kimber fix any problems that come with a new gun? The one that we shot this weekend was awesome! She said that it eats anything she feeds it. She was using her reloads and I was shooting some of my Wally World white box and it was smooth. I forget how many hundreds of rounds she had through it and had not had any failures due to the gun.

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry II and it is one of the finest shooting auto I own. I love the gun. My only problem with it is reassembling. I have some paralizes in my left arm and hand. Taking it down is easy but putting it back is a problem but that would also be for any 1911 style auto.

I have two, A CDP Pro and a Custom Carry II stainless. CDP is my EDC. CC II is my BBQ gun.

Both shoot great. They do not like steel or aluminum case ammo. Brass only.

The Custom Carry II is a shooting machine and handles better than the CDP. I do not know why.

I have a Springfield Armory GI model, a LLama whatever indestructible steel thing that is often my garage gun, and a FN Hi-Power in 40 SW. The Kimbers outshoot them all.

We've owned one. The wife never fully bonded with it and we let it go to a new home. They really do tend to take some serious break-in time before they "settle in".

Most Kimber owners will also tell you that the first thing to do when you unbox a new Kimber is to throw the factory magazines away. Why they furnish such crappy mags with a quality firearm is beyond me.

All that being said, I just don't trust 1911s in general. Mr. Browning had a fine design...for the year 1911. I've been around a total of three negligent discharges in my life, and on all three occasions, it was from a 1911 in the hands of someone fairly new to handling 1911s. They aren't for beginners.

It's easy to find articles that talk about Kimber's decline in reliability over the past yrs. No gun manufacturer is perfect but if I'm gonna spend that much it better have a better rep than what Kimber has right now. I'm sure you'll have plenty of people that say they've shot hundreds of rounds with out an issue

I think most of this is simply that those who have a fully functional Kimber, (or anything else for that matter), are not prone to leaving messages about it. They are enjoying their purchase.

Those with an axe to grind will always be the ones yelling the loudest.

All manufacturers, of every type, have produced products that were not entirely operational. What matters is how the correct this issue for the consumer.

I am a proud Kimber owner, thrice over, and have no issues with operation or quality.

As I stated above, when you get a good one it is real good but when you get a bad one, it is real bad. I had 2 tried the wilson magizines in them also, sent them both back to Kimber a couple of times but always would FTF or FTE after only a few rounds. This was after 200 + painful round break in. The final word from Kimber on both was that I must be limp wristing. That was the end of both for me. I have been shooting 1911's for a lot of years and never had a problem "limp wristing".

I am not opposed to trying another as I really like the looks. But with my luck, I would hate to spend the money and get another dud. So I will stick to my Colts, SA's and Les Baers.
