Broken Extractor

Jbird - If you decide to replace the extractor, then a good source for Glock parts and accessories is: http://www.lonewolfdist.com/ ... that is per the Marty.

I know what you REALLY meant to say.KinnyLee wrote:he does have a very nice Springer that's collecting dust.RPBrown wrote:Time to trade it in. How about a good 1911?

I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

No, I did not drop the slide on a round in the chamber nor did the extractor break from 1911 envyammoboy2 wrote:Did you close the slide on a chambered round? That is a common way to chip the extractor, since the extractor is forced to jump over the rim. When fed from the magazine the extractor slides under the extractor.

It has been shot a good bit.....LOL. Yes, the gun has over 10K (conservative estimate) through it. That really doesn't take long on the steel plates.....does it kinny? LOL. I have had that Glock 17 for about 3 1/2 years. I have shot that gun almost exclusively for the last year.JLaw wrote:Doh! That's stinks about the extractor, glad you got it fixed, though. Even better you had a spare G17 to fall back on. Do you seriously have that many rounds through the one you were using at the last PSC IDPA match?

I just got my G17 in August 06 and I have probably 3-5k through it. It's pretty easy to do considering the fact that 9mm is pretty cheap.
What a glorious weapon. I can't wait to see how mine is doing after 10k like yours Jbirds.
To reiterate, if the gun will operate nominally without the extractor, I will try it this weekend at the range, if it doesn't rain. I'll keep you posted!!!

I had the same thing happen with a Glock 21. I just rounded off the broken part with the "Precission Gunsmithing Dremel Tool" and the Glockamole has run for another 4,000 rounds so far.
