The Holy Four Gun Safety Rules are NOT absolutes

What I teach is that the main four are absolutes, BECAUSE, everyone can make a mistake. If you try to follow all four and happen to accidentally break one of them, the remaining rules should keep an ND and damage negligible if you DO have one.

...a lot of folks here are new to shooting...if we try to discuss too advanced a technique/topic/philosophy out in public, the risk is that there *will* be someone who will want to try it out before they've reached the point where they can use the info competently, maturely and safely.

Previously I complimented the insightful responses I had received and even expressed appreciation for some of the snappy one-liners.

Your analysis, however, is not just insightful but sobering in a way I had not fully anticipated and for that I apologize.

Thanks, Andy, for making me stop and think. My "situational awareness" in re this forum was, I now realize, entirely inadequate.

If any mod feels it best to delete this entire thread, I'd certainly understand. I think there's some very good writing in here by some clearly sharp folks and that their words are worthy of preservation...but I'd still understand
