That is hilarious! I got a PM and the name has been around many years. I guess I just wasn't paying attention. BTW, I really dislike crowds. The thought of hordes of people fighting over stuff that's "on sale" is repugnant to me.

Re: Black Friday
I have avoided all Black Fridays until this one. Never, Never, Never again will I put myself through that. I spent 6 hours in Cabelas for one gun purchase. The gun sales area was a little disorganized but I think the turn out was much larger than they ever expected. Although the wait was long, I have to say their staff all had a great attitude and did everything possible to keep people in a good mood. I did not see any angry or pushy shoppers that one would expect to see on this day. I was surprised at how courteous everyone was. It was my first time going to a Cabelas store and I will be going back.
The plus side is there were a lot of people buying guns. Many women buying themselves guns too. Gotta love Texas in it's support of the 2nd Amendment. They let it show today.

I fell for the shopping madness. Got a Matech BUIS for $50 and a carbine aluminum free float tube for $30. The crowds were brutal - although, I did all of my shopping online.

I went to the Waco Academy around 9:30 and it was busy but not too bad. They had the one item I was after (Taurus PT92 9mm) and I filled out the paperwork. They were running behind on running the paperwork (only one computer) so they said it would take about 30-40 minutes. I told them I would be back in a couple of hours to pick it up. Went back about 12:30 and they were a bit busier but still not horrible. Took about 15 minutes to get the gun and get checked out. It wasn't much worse tham a normal Friday evening.

I just went to Dick's Sporting Goods to look at scopes. They have a lousy selection to choose from and I got muzzle swept a few times by idiots looking at guns.
Should have just stayed home.

Re: Black Friday
I wanted the Ruger 10/22 takedown and they wouldn't let me order it online. It went kinda like this; 2 hours waiting in line to pick out the gun, 1.5 hours in line to complete the 4473 and 2 hours in line to pay for it. Lesson has been learned, nothing is worth going shopping on black Friday. I'm still really happy that I got one.WildBill wrote:I hear they do mail order.

Re: Black Friday
I went Black Friday shopping and bought a gun safe that was on sale. It was marked down $150 off the regular price. It was worth it.

Re: Black Friday
I agree it was worth it after I got home and realized that I have a nice new gun to shoot this weekend. If ever I decide to do this again, which I hope I never do, I'll buy several guns. If I'm gonna wait around for 6 hours for one gun, I might as well use the same wait time and get a few more. There was one guy who bought 5 Bushmaster ARs, 5 ammo boxes full .223 and a basket of other things. I think he must have done this before.

I'm sure it'll hit someone's radar. Several people were talking about it as he walked pulled his cart away after paying for them. We saw a few that had 2 or 3 guns of various kinds but he was the only one walking out with 5 ARs.

I went to Academy in the afternoon but they were already sold out of the 22 revolvers on sale so I left without buying anything.

Re: Black Friday
That says it for me. That said, our son and DIL left our Thanksgiving dinner at 8 p.m. to make it to the opening of a "Black Thursday" sale at some store here in town. They've just bought a house and they're moving in the first week of December, and they needed a new refrigerator and a TV for the living room. They spent $1,800 on $3,000 worth of merchandise. That's a pretty significant savings. But I don't think I could do it. Like BigGuy, I'd have to leave my gun at home, and I never leave home unarmed.......so there it is. I think young folks handle that kind of abuse better than older folks because they're more focused on the end prize. For me, there's just no amount of price reduction worth that kind of aggravation.urnoodle wrote:.....nothing is worth going shopping on black Friday.
