CHL Renewal - MIL, is CHL-100 required?

Post by HotRod68Camaro »

I need to renew my license and im unclear as to what the requirement is. Looking at this statement it appears that i don't even need to take the classroom portion, and all i need is to send in a pistol training/score card? Is that correct, or does it only waive the range time?

CHL-100 Training Form* (received from CHL instructor upon course completion); Military range scores, within the preceding 5 years of your CHL application, can be used in place of a CHL-100 (GC §411.1881)

Military range scores can sub for the range proficiency, but not for the class.

Unless this is your 3rd renewal, the class is required.

The class is about Texas law so you have to pass the class even if you are in the military.

However, if you are worried about being embarassed when the college girl in your CHL class outshoots you, you can use mil documentation to skip that :biggrinjester: but you still need the full number of training hours. So for a new license, the instructor would have to make up their missed range time with something else, so the student gets the full ten hours.

The question was about renewal not a new license.

To bottom line it- a CHL-100 is required for both new apps AND renewals, whether you are military or not, regardless of where you live.
