Smith & Wesson M&P Shield

Post by gguess66 »

Anyone out there own an M&P shield? What do you think, I'm looking for it to be pocket carry or of course concealed. :txflag:

Also interested in the Shield.

I've done a lot of research and narrowed my choices down to the Shield, Walther PPS, and the CM9.

If my primary use was pocket carry it would be the CM9 hands down. But being a Glock guy I like the triggers on the PPS and the Shield better. I'm leaning toward the Shield because of the traditional mag release. Of course it would be nice to have all 3.

The Shield is too large for pocket carry in my opinion. It is in my rotation of carry guns, but I find it too large my pockets.

I pocket carry a Glock 26 better than the Shield. I think the height of the Sheild too tall for the pocket.

With that said it is a GREAT pistol in a Comp Tac Infidel holster.

I agree with other posters. Kahr CM9/PM9 would make a smaller pocket 9mm. That said, I am looking for a Shield also. I'd wear it IWB. If you prefer the shorter trigger pull of the Glock or M&P over the Kahr, the Shield is slimmer. I didn't like the ergonomics of the PPS for my hands. I haven't handled a Shield yet.

LOVE my Walther PPS. I handled the shield and it didn't feel nearly as good in my hand. Wasn't a good fit at all for me. The trigger on the PPS is nice.

As the others said, the Shield is too big for pocket carry. My wife has one and really likes it. We both find it very instinctive - a true point and shoot.

While I liked the PPS, my wife did not. The finger grooves weren't right for her.

Very happy with my Shield. Good trigger. Short reset. Quality construction. Plenty accurate out to 15 yards even for an average marksman. For me, the recoil was very easy to manage--better than expected. I can recommend it if it fits your hand and you like the features.

I have a Shield in 9mm and I love mine. It's a bit big for a front pants pocket carry but you can put it in the back pocket of a pair of jeans with a long tail pull over shirt.

Exactly this! Love the shield but I just can't pocket carry it like my pm9 or even glock 26
But in the infidel ultra it conceals nice
