Company targeting police, bounty hunters with safer ammo

Guess I'm not sure I understand the point of ammo that is safe...

Executives with a Boise-based company are poised to begin marketing a new type of ammunition specifically for law enforcement teams and designed to avoid causing serious or fatal injuries to their targets and bystanders.
Seriously? Isn't that what a nightstick is for? Obviously, this product is for "less lethal" applications; but try using it on a giant PCP fueled psychotic. Ain't gonna work. I can't see this actually replacing a standard firearm and ammunition, which seems to be the implication of "safer ammo."

Sounds like the shotgun beanbag - good for controlling mobs of riotous hippies, but won't work in a lot of situations.

All these non-lethal bullets are never going to equate to the magic wand of stopping a particular action without injury. Even pepper spray makes for a pretty gruesome sight when used on someone. "Non-lethal force" is another one of those feel good phrases. People sometimes need a real spanking, not a time out in the corner. It's not pretty, but it's effective. If you point a gun at someone, it should be loaded with real bullets, and there should be no doubt on anyone's mind how far that situation is now capable of escalating. And for the record, I put a hole in a cinder block wall with a bean bag round, so let's not kid ourselves about "non-lethal force".

stuff looks too dangerous .... you could put an eye out ...and then get sued for it; his pain, suffering , loss of earning capacity and his spouse would join for loss of consortium since he'd kiss the wrong woman because of vision failure...

you said that. I have shot some people with the less lethal bean bag rounds. It didn't even phase them. Granted we couldn't shoot them under 15 yards, ect so the impact was gone by the time it hit them.
