Sounds like a great change. I think something similar to this was turned down not long ago. I was told to file a DD214 at city hall when I got out because it would put a copy relatively close by in the event I lost my original. That was the story I was told. Who knows.........

My only bag was my seabag. I might have been a lifer, but an E6 with an attitude, an E7 who lied, and a couple of officers who couldn't read changed my mind.

I was told that too, the reality is though it only takes 2 weeks to get a copy from St Louis anymore. You can order them online and just fax in a signed sheet (this was the process about 3 years ago at least, may be even easier now) and your new 214 shows up in the mail 10-14 days later for free.

Its not lightning fast, but 2 weeks is pretty quick when you consider how seldom you actually need a copy anyway.
