NRA Contribution ?

I recently received a slick NRA contribution request complete with my new 2013 annual membership card attached even though my current membership does not expire until 11/30/2017 that is if I live to see age 77+. I am willing to make a sizable contribution to the NRA to help in the critical fight against the gun grab onslaught, but when I contributed to the RNC before the 2012 elections my mailbox became flooded with a myriad of requests for more money. I don't want to play that game with the NRA, so I am asking for thoughts, especially from Mr. Cotton, on how to avoid the NRA wasting money sending me more solicitations after I send a contribution.

How can I reduce the amount of mail I receive from the NRA?

A: Simply email us at membership@nrahq.org or dial 800-NRA-3888 and request to be placed on the "Do Not Promote" list. This will significantly reduce the amount of mail you receive without affecting important mailings, magazine service, or your membership renewal.

Others have done this with settings after logging in to their account.

I just buy a money order put in an envelope along with their request for a contribution
and mail it back to them. They send me another request for a contribution and I send it
back to them along with another money order. over and over again

Tommy, I almost bit on NRA's $600 life membership offer, but since I am good to over age 77, how much more could I expect. If I live to 100, that will be another bad decision among many!

You should go ahead and get the life membership think of what you are doing.. You are protecting
your children and grand children from losing their rights. I'm over 60 I'm a life member and I keep on giving
to the NRA every month I admit that I often use the forum to get other members to support the NRA
sometines I get members to contribute some times it is like I keep giving and tring

I just did a re-up for 3 years tonight even though I was not due to re-up until 10/14. I like the NRA and will continue to support them as they support us.

The NRA is the one and only lobbying group I donate to.

Also keep in mind that the entity that does the actual lobbying work is the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (ILA). Happily, new memberships in the NRA have been growing at an astronomical pace since all the new rhetoric on gun bans began, and make no mistake that volume of membership is vital, as are all the programs that the NRA engages in.

However, the NRA can't use any of your membership dollars for direct political lobbying. I'm an Endowment Life Member, and may upgrade that in the near future. But--and this is just my personal opinion--I feel the NRA-ILA needs the bulk of our immediate support. They're going to be in Washington fighting for our side in what is sure to be the fastest and heaviest push for gun control we have ever seen in this country. The more resources they have, the better.

I vowed in December to make monthly contributions to the NRA-ILA for the duration of this current battle, and I urge everyone to consider making a donation. The NRA-ILA's website is: http://www.nraila.org/. To make a donation with a credit card, you can go straight to the secure form here.

We didn't have much spare cash laying around, so I opted for the 1-year $10 no-magazine-subscription membership that you can only get via the phone. Why? So I could sign my wife up, too. I wanted their membership base to increase as much as possible. I've gotten at least 10-15 new members in the last five weeks, a few at full-fare and several using the same tactics to enroll spouses and kids.

I'm grateful to all of you supporting them with above and beyond gifts, especially the ILA!
