Funny how they quote the Founders' intentions.

The Supreme Court might have thought the union was perpetual, but the people might have other ideas.
The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation where the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. James Madison

Re: White House response to succession petition
Any Texas constitutional scholars want to weigh in. I believe the president's response is correct. Sure would be nice if there was a clause or an option.
I'm of course afraid we would be responsible for our share of the countries debt to this point. Tough for us to come up with that kind of money to leave. I'm sure our share would be based on area not population, even though population would be more fair. If your negotiating permission to leave, which appears to be the only way it would happen, you probably would have to give in on a lot of points.
Only thing I have heard is in the acceptance of Texas into the Union, is breaking up into six smaller states, nothing about leaving.
A lot of that hand cursive is really hard to read.

The Declaration of Independence states that it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government. Doesn't this specifically include the right of the people to secede from the union, which would constitute a partial alter and abolishment? Just asking because I'm honestly unsure how this applies.

11 states said they had the right to secceed. Lyncoln said they didnt.

Wait, if we walk away, do we really have to follow some other country's (USA) constitution? The Country of Texas would have its own to follow.
