Rep. Jim Moran files H.R. 21

Post by oldtexan »

On Jan 3, Rep Jim Moran of VA filed H.R. 21, entitled NRA Members' Gun Safety Act of 2013. It would require background checks on all gun sales, require background checks for all gunshop employees, dictate actions in the event of a firearm being lost or stolen, and impose requirements on states that issue concealed carry licenses.

Here's a link to the text of the bill.. I've been having trouble with loc.gov links too. Hopefully this works.

Among other things, this legislation would require FFL involvement (or other checks) on private sales.

This legislation would also require a conceald carry applicant to "(C) demonstrate good cause for requesting a concealed firearm permit;".

Thomas query links won't work perpetually, here is the PDF link, maybe it will

Using the NRAs name in a bill is pretty low, not sure why I'm surprised but I am

Good cause ...
1) read the Paper/watch the news, it's a dangerous world and no one knows when or where danger is, so it's good to be prepared.
2) Reason 1 is enough, although no "good cause" is necessary, under pre-constitution natural law dating law back to Cain and Abel, and as recognized under the Constitution for those who are literate and can read it.

They did a "poll" of NRA members and found "they" were in favor of these particular changes so decided to call it the NRA members bill. Just trying to take advantage of people and manipulate numbers/facts to their own agenda.
