Losing gun sales, ammo

Post by Ericstac »

I was in Academy yesterday doing my daily rituals;

Got any,
.223/5.56 -nope
AR mags-nope
9mm ammo -nope
EBRs? -nope

:(

Anywho, I overheard a gentleman looking at a S&W SD9. He was prepared to buy it when he overheard me asking my daily rituals. He then asked again, you don't have any ammo for this gun? They said nope, and he long windedly proceeded not to buy the gun.

I wonder if this is happening a lot and affecting gun sales.

I know a number of people who have purchased 9mm handguns who can not find ammo at all. Several have had to postpone their CHL class because they can't find a box of ammo for the range.

I am curious as to how much impact the shortage is having on shooting ranges. I know it has curbed my trips :cryin because I don't want to blow through a couple boxes and not be able to readily replenish.

I've been reluctant to go to the range myself so that I don't eat through my ammo supply. I have a new Colt that's begging to be broken in but with how hard it has been to find ammo, I'd rather not right now. :???:

Ammo is starting to become available again, you just have to look online. Tons of reasonably priced 9mm at: http://www.bulkammo.com/handgun/bulk-9mm-ammo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yea, I've skipped the range a couple times that I normally would have gone. Even had to turn down my girlfriend wanting to go. I have ammo on hand but do not want to be forced to pay this $20/50 as that is not reasonable IMO. It's double what it used to be.

Well, if you had loaded the page a few minutes earlier, they had 1,000 rounds of FMJ for $245. That is what I was referring to. Given the climate and the shortages, I think $250-300 for 1,000 rounds right now is a good deal.

$250 is reasonable, $300 is more a gouge, but not horrible, you are correct.
But I can only look at when I loaded the page LOL

I imagine at some point it will get better or at least I hope. It has one scared to shoot what they have.

If you look right it is definitely available but I bet 90% of the gun population doesn't know how to look or buy ammo online.. Especially a new gun buyer.

Ps, cabelas has some 9mm at 29 cent a round.. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting ... T.tsrc=AFF" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

What I pay for range brass 9mm ammo is 20-22 cents per rd. 30 cents/rd is like 50% jump for the same product. Double your profit with no hassle.

Every time I click on and refresh that link I get the usual message:

"There are no products matching the selection."

Means they are sold out, they had several options earlier this morning. Seems it went quick,
